Solomon
Featuring Solomon
The Story
Solomon became king after David and began his reign by asking God for wisdom instead of riches or long life. God was pleased with that request and gave him a wise and discerning heart. Soon everyone saw it when Solomon judged between two women claiming the same baby, and his answer revealed the true mother. Later he oversaw the building of the temple in Jerusalem, where cedar wood, carved walls, and shining gold made the house glorious. When the temple was dedicated, Solomon prayed before all the people and asked that God would hear prayers offered toward that place. The cloud of God's glory filled the temple, and worshippers stood in awe. Solomon's story reminds us that true greatness begins with seeking wisdom from the Lord.
