The Story

Moses was born at a dangerous time when Pharaoh had ordered Hebrew baby boys to be killed, so his mother hid him and then placed him in a basket among the reeds of the Nile. Pharaoh's daughter found him, and Moses grew up in the palace while still belonging to God's people. Years later, after fleeing into the wilderness, Moses saw a bush burning without being consumed and heard God call his name. God sent him back to Egypt to lead the Israelites out of slavery. Through plagues, a night of deliverance, and the rushing waters of the Red Sea opening before them, Moses learned again and again that God was powerful and faithful. At Mount Sinai he went up into thunder, smoke, and holy fire to receive God's commands for the people. Moses became the leader who guided Israel out of bondage and taught them to listen to the God who had rescued them.
