Jonathan
Featuring Jonathan
The Story
Jonathan, Saul's son, was a brave warrior long before he became known as David's friend. On one daring day he climbed toward a Philistine outpost with only his armor-bearer, trusting that the Lord could save by many or by few. After David defeated Goliath, Jonathan recognized God's hand on him and loved him as his own soul. He gave David royal gifts as a sign of covenant friendship and later stood up for him when Saul's anger grew dangerous. During a painful secret meeting, Jonathan warned David to flee and helped him escape. Even though Jonathan was the prince, he was willing to place God's purpose above his own future. His story is one of courage, humility, and faithful friendship.
Moral of the Story
