Card #7
Hagar & Ishmael
Featuring Hagar & Ishmael
The Story
Hagar was Sarah's servant, and when trouble grew in Abraham's household, she found herself frightened and alone. While she was in the wilderness, an angel of the Lord met her by a spring and spoke kindly to her. The angel promised that her son Ishmael would live and grow into a great people. Hagar was amazed that God had seen her tears in the lonely desert. Years later, after she and Ishmael were sent away, their water ran out and Hagar wept again. God heard the boy crying, opened Hagar's eyes to a well nearby, and cared for them both. Hagar's story shows that God sees the forgotten, hears the hurting, and stays near in the hardest places.
Moral of the Story
God sees and cares for us, even in our most difficult moments, and He always keeps His promises.
