Esau

Featuring Esau

The Story

Esau was Isaac and Rebekah's firstborn son, a skillful hunter who loved the open fields and returned home smelling of earth and wild grass. He was strong and impulsive, and one hungry day he came in from the countryside exhausted. When he smelled Jacob's hot red stew, he traded away his birthright for a single meal, caring more about the moment than the blessing of the future. Later, when Jacob received their father's special blessing, Esau felt the deep ache of what he had lost. His loud cries filled the tent as he realized some choices cannot easily be undone. Even so, Esau later met Jacob again with surprising kindness. His story warns against careless choices while also showing that hearts can soften.

Moral of the Story

We should think carefully before making decisions, as some choices can have lasting consequences.
