Elisha

Featuring Elisha

The Story

Elisha was working in the field when Elijah threw his cloak over him and called him to follow. Later he watched as Elijah was taken up in a whirlwind, and he picked up the fallen cloak as a sign that the prophetic work would continue. Elisha struck the Jordan and crossed on dry ground, showing that God's power was with him too. From then on he helped ordinary people in extraordinary ways. He provided overflowing oil for a widow in debt, promised a son to a faithful woman, and later raised that child to life. He also told Naaman the Syrian to wash in the Jordan, and Naaman was healed of leprosy. Elisha's life was full of mercy, miracles, and quiet confidence in the God who helps His people.

Moral of the Story

God's power continues through faithful people.
