Deborah

Featuring Deborah

The Story

Deborah was a prophet and judge in Israel, and people came to her for wisdom as she sat beneath her palm tree. At a time when God's people were suffering under an enemy commander named Sisera, Deborah called Barak and delivered God's command to go into battle. Barak agreed to go only if Deborah went with him, and she did. When the armies met, the ground shook with rushing feet and the battle turned as God had promised. Sisera fled, and Israel won a great victory. Afterward Deborah and Barak sang a song celebrating the Lord's power and the courage of those who answered His call. Deborah's story shows wise leadership, brave faith, and the strength that comes from listening to God.
